Kerman antique

High quality manufactory work from the ancient workshops of Kerman, an old oasis city along the Silk Route. With their century old weaving tradition, dating back into the the 16th century, carpets from the Kerman region are amongst the most elaborate pieces in the persian art of producing outstanding oriental carpets. Judging from the exceptional dimension, this piece is likel to have been individually customized for a wealthy local customer, which gives it its unique and highly original character.

The ivory-coloured interior field shows an elegant medaillon design composed of a vide variety of spiralling blossoms, flowering twigs, bouquets of flowers and palmettes in a beautiful palette of colours rangin from velvet and dark blue to red, pink and crème.

The main border is sand-coloured, containing large yet delicate flowers, colourful tendrils and exquisite ornaments. An emblemic crown flanked by a red, white and gold garland of flowers marks the signum of the manufacture.
