Yazd antique

A lovely piece which radiates both charm and exclusivity. Manufactured in the famous workshops of Yazd, this early carpet is an outstanding example of the excellent quality and highly elaborate art of composition that once distinguished craftsmanship in the region.

The interior field is founded on a majestic medaillon inside a second medaillon. While the first rests upon delicate bouqets of flowers on a night blue background, the second puts an elegant contrast through displaying a wide variety of colourful birds, flowers, blossoms and twigs against an ivory-coloured background. This complex interplay of movement and calm serenity is pushed outward even further by pairs of fleeing hares, each of them flanking a dominant vase-shaped bouquet of flowers in each corner.

The whole composition is completed by a whole set of outer borders displaying finely arranged trees, birds and flowers against the full colour palette applied in the carpet´s overall architecture.
